“More Than…” is a figurative exhibition presented at Calico Cat Gallery that explores the tension between social, cultural and religious constructions of femininity and the lived realities of contemporary Australian women. Through large-scale portraiture, miniature motifs and still life works, the exhibition reflects on motherhood, migration, cultural identity and chronic illness as sites where idealised expectations and embodied experience diverge. Drawing on symbolic references such as the forbidden fruit, the works extend Liesl Cosh's ongoing interest in giving voice to sitters beyond surface representation, revealing the emotional and psychological depth within everyday life.

Presented in partnership with Gallery 1855, the 3 hour workshop covered the fundamentals of colour theory and colour mixing, including how to mix warm and cool blacks. Participants began with warm-up sketches and explored strategies for finding strong compositions, developing loose and expressive brushwork, and working on coloured grounds. The session also included creating a tonal study, and the foundations of a final landscape painting.

Inspired by the impressionist painter Ethel Carrick, this series of oil works was created for That's Enrico, an award-winning Italian restaurant in Lobethal in the Adelaide Hills. The works depict alfresco dining scenes inspired by moments observed in Italy. Painted loosely with broad brushstrokes and thick applications of oil paint, the works focus on strong contrasts of light and shadow, bright illuminated spaces, and the atmosphere of shared meals. The figures are intentionally depersonalised, shifting attention toward the overall mood and experience of eating and drinking together with friends and family.
